What Is the “Gayest” Album Ever?
A friend of mine works for “Out” magazine, and recently did an article about which albums should be considered “the gayest.” So, one night while enjoying a few drinks at our local bar, he asked me which albums have meant the most to me as a gay man. I’m the perfect guy to ask this question, considering my background in radio and love of pop culture.
I rattled off a few that were at the top of my mind. Keep in mind these albums should fit the stereotype of “gayest.”
I thought I was creative and pulled out some real winners. But, every album I mentioned already received multiple mentions. My short list included: Madonna, “The Immaculate Collection,” Cyndi Lauper, “She’s So Unusual,” and “Beaches” soundtrack. My friend, Randy, quickly added his two cents… with his love of Boy George and the Culture Club (something I don’t get).
You’d be amazed at how so many of us have been affected by the same artists and songs.
What do you think? Which albums do you consider the “gayest,” and meant the most to you?

It’s true, I did cite Culture Club’s Colour by Numbers (#53)… but among the top 100, I also correctly picked out Judy at Carnegie Hall (#5), George Michael’s Faith (#15), Madonna’s Erotica (#36) and Culture Club’s Kissing to be Clever (#95)
