Anniversary: 7 Years of Being Gay

Anniversary: 7 Years of Being Gay

Seven years ago, on the evening of December 17th around 11:30, I decided to stop hiding my life and live as an openly gay man. When I look back, I put myself through years and years of stress. I remember the many nights lying awake in bed thinking about how I would come out of the closet to my family and friends. I would go on three-hour runs and have the conversations in my mind… sometimes out loud… I looked like a crazy person because I was talking to myself out loud.

Seven years have passed. In that time I’ve learned and loved so much. What have I learned? Please take the time and listen to the Seven Things I’ve Learned in Seven Years Time.

I’ll tell you one thing… it’s been a hell of a ride and it’s only getting better!

  2. What a lovely, honest retrospect. I never thought about looking at my life as a gay man in such a way. I’ve been out I guess for 15 years unfortunately I cant pinpoint the exact day and time. What a wonderful idea. I am going to get some friends together and have a Coming Out Anniversary party where everyone list the top 5,10,15 things we have learned. I have a podcast on itunes and I might totally steal this idea for an episode. Sorry about that, Bo. You’re just too brilliant. But I will totally give you all the credit!!

Ok, I’ve used the word “totally” one too many times. Gotta go. Keep this great stuff coming!!

    ciao
