Please Don’t Divorce Us

Please Don’t Divorce Us

For a brief time last year, about six months, gay men and women had the right to get married in California. It was seen as a huge step forward for the LGBT movement. In that time, over 18,000 gay couples got married.

But, on November 4th, 2008, our community’s one step forward turned into several steps backwards. That was the day Proposition 8 ended legalized gay marriage in the Golden State. And if that isn’t enough for those against gay marriage, on December 19, 2008, Ken Starr and the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund filed legal briefs defending the constitutionality of the proposition and are seeking to nullify the once legal marriages.

The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in this case on March 5, with a decision expected within 90 days.

An amazing video was created to show the lives and loves affected by Proposition 8. Please watch the video and send it to your friends and family. Lets support each other in this tough time. On a personal note, it’s set to a song, which made me believe in love again. If you believe in love, you’ll definitely want to watch!

  1. I love this campaign! And I have signed the letter. I am so hoping that things will change for marriage equality on a federal level soon!
