NY Governor Spoke Too Soon

In what could be considered the biggest case of blue balls ever (sorry had to do it), New York Governor David Paterson is changing his mind and plans to “go along with a plan by State Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith not to put a same-sex marriage bill to a vote without knowing it would pass.”

What?!? He got us all excited!!!

Obviously, this is something the still wet-behind-the-ears governor should have considered before having a national press conference. He grabbed the nation’s attention last week when he announced he was moving forward with a bill to introduce legalized gay marriage to his state.

A bill needs 32 votes to pass. State Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith says, “I’m very concerned about putting a bill on the floor that’s going to be symbolism and not pass… I’m going to count until I know that I have 32, if not 34, votes.”

So, just like that guy or gal who walks you back to their place for a little above clothes action… you think you’re going to get some, but you realize you have to work a little bit harder for it. So close… but no cigar.
