End the Lies About Us

There are so many lies spreading about the gay community. So many stories we don’t even hear or know about. Many, if not all of them are based on fear. I’m sure you heard the one about how most gays are pedophiles. Damn, these lies and stories are disgusting, and they spread like wildfire.

Have you heard how Colorado state Senator Scott Renfroe said legislation extending healthcare to same-sex partners was like legalizing murder? He also called LGBT people an “offense to God.” Or, how Oklahoma state Representative Sally Kern was recorded telling supporters, “The homosexual agenda is destroying this nation… I honestly think homosexuality is the biggest threat this nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam.”

I don’t know about you, but I remember reading about many gay men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, most notably a gay man who helped make sure flight 93 didn’t crash into the White House. Instead, Mark Bingham, chose to defend his country. Paul Holm, his partner of six years said, “I think Mark was always my personal hero… We didn’t run around waving gay flags, but we were very proud to be gay and if people asked, he told them.” How can Kern even think of placing the words homosexuality and terrorism in the same sentence. Again, this is disgusting… and we didn’t even hear about it. Until now!

You’re also able to sign up to support gay rights and say once and for all, “you believe lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people should have the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.
