Walters’ Inappropriate Gaga Question
Walters’ Inappropriate Gaga Question
Lady Gaga had quite a big year, and topped it off with becoming one of Barbara Walters’ “Most Fascinating People.” She may not be sitting on top of the list, that honor belongs to First Lady, Michelle Obama. But, Gaga was the first lady to be asked perhaps one of the most inappropriate questions during the ABC Special.
Walters asked the popstar about the popularity of her hit single, “Poker Face,” and the line “Bluffing with my muffin.” These lyrics got lots attention and made many wonder if Gaga was indeed lesbian or bisexual. Gaga says, “I do like women… I’ve only been in love with men, I’ve never been in love with a woman.” Walters was not satisfied with that answer, so she probed further, and asked what I consider the most inappropriate question, “Have you had sex with women?”
Now, how is that ever an appropriate question to ask anyone? This just goes to show how straight people view homosexuality as just sex. Gay men and women are made into sexual beings by a straight society. Notice, when Lady Gaga chats about being bisexual, she brings up love and chats about the emotional side. Walters brings up sex, and wants to know the nitty gritty details.
Would Walters ever think of asking Angelina Jolie about her sex life with Brad Pitt, probably not. Would she dare ask Michelle Obama about her first sexual experience with President Obama… absolutely not. Why the double standard?
My reaction was pretty similar to that of Lady Gaga’s. The bisexual stuff starts around (2:25)
